Celebrating the Feast of Vartanants on Thursday 27 February, Reverend Father Avetis Hambardzumyan celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Church of Holy Resurrection. On this occasion, His Eminence presided and delivered his message.
As every year, students from Armenian day schools were present at the liturgy, about 250 students and teachers from the Hamazkaine Galstaun College and about 70 students and teachers from the AGBU Alexander School.
The lectionary readings were read in two languages by the principals of the schools, in Armenian by Mr. Manoug Demirjian and in English by Mr. Eddie Demirdjian. All students received holy communion, then, at the end of the liturgy, one by one kissed the Gospel and headed to the Edgarian Hall where the Church Ladies’ Auxiliary Committee served lunch. For ten years the ladies have done a commendable job, feeding over 300 students.
After lunch, everyone returned to the church, where a well deserved artistic program was presented, prepared by the two schools, coordinated by Armenian teachers, Mrs. Seta
Keoshkerian (Alexander School) and Arpi Tavitian (Galstaun College).
