His Grace Bishop Haigazoun Najarian left for Armenia on Sunday to oversee the preparations for the upcoming visit of the Australian delegates from the Middle Eastern Bishops Conference from 24-30 June when they will be the guests of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin. During their stay, the delegates will meet with His Holiness Karekin II Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians and other officials. The itinerary also includes visits to orphanages, soup kitchens and aged-care facilities where the delegation will extend its charitable help.
This is the fourth trip of its kind among sister churches demonstrating support and solidarity for each other’s mission and ministry. In previous years the bishops have travelled to Iraq, Lebanon (for Syria) and Egypt, significantly throughout these years of conflict within the region.
The delegation consists of Bishop Najarian, Archbishop Robert Rabbat (Melkite Catholic Eparchy of Australia), Archbishop Julian Porteous (Catholic Diocese of Hobart), Bishop Daniel (Coptic Church), Bishop Antoine-Charbel Tarabay (Maronite Catholic Church), Father Parsegh Sousanian (Armenian Catholic Church), Fr Elie Nakhoul (Maronite Catholic Church Media Relations), and two representatives from Tele Lumiere Ecumenical Channel in Lebanon.
