Father Komitas was a priest, musician, composer, choir master, ethnomusicologist, recording artist and musical pioneer.
In 1906, after a concert, Claude Debussy knelt and kissed Komitas’ right hand, saying, ‘You’re a genius, Holy Father’.
This year marks the 150th Anniversary of the birth of the great Father Komitas and the Armenian community is proud to present a Tribute Concert with special international guests ‘The Armenian String Quartet’, featuring the very talented Astghik Vardanyan and comprising of four exceptionally accomplished musicians. They will be playing the music of Komitas as well as Khachaturian, Borodin, Haydn and the works of other celebrated composers presenting well known pieces Krunk, Chinar Es, Hoy Nazan, Sabre Dance and many others.
