On Sunday 19 May 2024, the Feast of Pentecost was celebrated with Archpriest Father Norayr Patanian as the Celebrant & Homilist for this major feast day.
Also known as Hokekaloust, on the first Pentecost, the Holy Spirit inspired the birth of the Christian Church.
Pentecost means fifty days in Greek and refers to the fiftieth day after Easter. During the fifty days of Pentecost, every day is a day to celebrate the Easter mystery of Christ risen and active amongst us.
“When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit” (Acts 2:1-4).
