On his third visit to Australia, His Holiness Karekin II Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians arrived in Sydney on Friday 1 February accompanied by His Eminence Archbishop Nathan Hovhanissyan, Director of the Department of External Relations and Protocol at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin; Very Reverend Father Anania Tsaturyan, Staff Bearer; and Mr Suren Ter Grigoryan, Photographer.
As the second official Pontifical Visit, the week planned ahead included a number of community events when His Holiness would engage with our faithful community members of all ages.
The first of these encounters began with a welcoming party headed by His Grace Bishop Haigazoun Najarian, Primate of Australia and New Zealand accompanied by Parish Pastors Very Reverend Father Yeremia Abgaryan of the Holy Trinity Church in Wentworthville, Reverend Father Avetis Hambardzumyan of the Diocese’s Mother Church of Holy Resurrection, Diocesan Council Chairman Mr Sarkis Der Bedrossian, Vice-Chair Mr Stepan Kerkyashian, Parish Council Chairmen and representatives of Armenian community organisations which took part in the VIP lounge at Sydney International Airport.
