The Feast of the Glorious Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ starts on the eve and continues after midnight.
The Vigil Office of the Lighting of Lamps (Jrakalouyts) took place on the evening of Saturday 16 April 2022, as we entered into Easter Sunday. The faithful took turns lighting their candles, symbolising the Light that Christ brought into the world.
During this service of scripture lessons, the congregation heard the prophecies proudly heralding Christ’s Resurrection. The readings foreshadow mankind’s salvation, the victory over death and the destruction of hell brought about by Christ’s Resurrection.
The vigil readings gave way immediately into the Vigil Divine Liturgy, celebrated by Archpriest Father Bartev Karakashian with Father Avetis Hambardzumyan reading the Pontifical Easter message.
As is tradition, the Karasoun Mangounk Youth Choir accompanied the beautiful service, led by choirmaster Deacon Vartan Elmasian.
Following the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, the assembled faithful welcomed each other on the occasion of the Glorious Resurrection of Christ conveying the great tiding: “Christ is Risen from the dead” “Blessed is the Resurrection of Christ.”
