On Tuesday 13 February 2018 the Armenian Apostolic Church held their first evening celebrations of the feast of Diarentarach which means “Presenting before the Lord”. The Armenian Church celebrates the feast of the Lord’s presentation to the temple on the 14th February and symbolises the presentation of the 40 day old Christ Child to the temple in Jerusalem.
According to old custom this day is dedicated to newlyweds who were invited to church for a blessing.
The bonfire ceremony then continued on the lawns with dancing, singing and the clergy and parishioners alike, jumping over the flames.
