30 March 2024, on Holy Saturday, in the evening, the Vigil Office of the Lighting of Lamps (Jrakalooyts) commenced at sundown, the entry into Easter Sunday.

The vigil readings gave way immediately into the Vigil Divine Liturgy, the first to be celebrated in triumphant commemoration of Jesus’ Resurrection from among the dead.

Following the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, the assembled faithful welcomed each other on the occasion of the Glorious Resurrection of Christ conveying the great tiding:  “Christ is Risen from the dead” and received the answer: “Blessed is the Resurrection of Christ.” The faithful take the lit candles home, symbolising the Light that Christ brought into the world.
