The church was decorated with branches from palm trees as a beautiful day greeted our faithful parishioners and the Armenian Apostolic Church of Holy Resurrection celebrated Palm Sunday on Sunday 14 April 2019.
Palm Sunday celebrates the triumphant entry of Christ into Jerusalem riding atop a donkey when large crowds gathered to meet him spreading their cloaks on the road and branches from palm trees shouting: “Hosanna! Blessed is the King of Israel that comes in the name of the Lord”.
Also known as Children’s Day, the sound of the children reciting the “Hayr Mer'” filled the church after a special blessing by the celebrant of the day, Father Norayr Patanian.
The Trnpatsek (opening of the door) service also took place, when the altar curtain is opened following the Lenten period.
