Twenty pilgrims from the Church of Holy Resurrection led by Fr Avetis Hambardzumyan arrived in Yerevan on Friday, 18 September 2015 for a two week visit. With His Grace Bishop Haigazoun Najarian and Diocesan Council members, the Catholicos of All Armenians had an audience with the group on Sunday 20 September in the Catholicosate.
It was a memorable two-week tour which was also enjoyed by anyone linked to the Church’s Facebook page. The stories and experiences of the pilgrims preceded their arrival with the daily images and posts on Facebook showcasing the group’s journey. It told a story of spiritual renewal and awakening, of friendships forged, of connections to an ancient land and cultural heritage.
The pilgrims travelled to churches and monasteries led in prayer and singing of hymns by Fr Avetis Hambardzumyan, Fr Norayr Patanian and for part Bishop Haigazoun Najarian. Exploring the various landmarks, attractions and cities, Armenian hospitality was experienced at every point.
The trip culminated for the group at the ceremonial occasion of the Blessing of the Holy Chrism on 27 September.
