On 27 December 2020, on the commemoration of St Stephen, which is associated with Deacon’s Day, six new deacons were ordained at the Armenian Apostolic Church of Holy Resurrection by His Eminence Archbishop Haigazoun Najarian.
The acolytes and stole-bearers have been serving together on the altar for the past five years, however each of them began their ranks much earlier in life with five of the six serving in churches in Aleppo. For the past year, Parish Pastor Reverend Father Avetis Hambardzumyan has been overseeing the extensive training program which culminated in a three hour exam prior to the ordination.
Our newly ordained deacons are Sako Askanian, Raffi Jebejian, Boghos Keleshian, Vartan Keoshgerian, George Najarian, and Krikor Setrakian.
We congratulate the new deacons and pray that God’s blessings be with them always as they each serve the church for many years to come.
