On Sunday 12 September 2021, The Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross or “Khatchverats” was celebrated at the Armenian Apostolic Church of Holy Resurrection.
Khatchverats is the fifth and the last Tabernacle Feast of the Armenian Apostolic Church. It is the most important feast among the feasts dedicated to the Holy Cross, as it is dedicated to the history of the return of the Holy Cross from imprisonment, its elevation and glorification.
Today, as the universal symbol of Christianity was celebrated behind closed doors, it was a simple reminder of what the cross represents to Christians the world over, Christ’s love towards mankind.
Archbishop Haigazoun Najarian, the Celebrant and Homilist also presided over the traditional blessing of the Four Corners of the World (Andastan) and the ceremonial blessing of the basil leaves was held.
