On Wednesday 13 February 2019, the Armenian Apostolic Church celebrated Diarnt’arach.

The Armenian Church marks the Feast of the Lord’s Presentation in the Temple on 14 February which symbolises the presentation of the 40 day-old Christ Child to the Temple in Jerusalem.

Many customs have been inherited from the past, including the blessing of the four corners of the world in the Andastan Service and the blessing of newlywed and engaged couples.

After the blessings, the couples jumped over a bonfire representing guidance by the light of Christ.

The evening was spent in much joy as parishioners danced around the fire and followed the young couples as they took turns jumping over the fire.
