On Thursday 8 February 2018, two sessions of students were welcomed at the Church of Holy Resurrection for a memorable Vartanants day.
Forty Chinese students accompanied by two teachers from China, on an exchange program with Galstaun College, were welcomed firstly for a session with His Grace Bishop Haigazoun Najarian who explained the faith of Armenians, the importance of our history and culture highlighting the significance of St Vartan and the Battle of Avarayr.
Some 340 students with their teachers from Galstaun College and AGBU Alexander School arrived soon after and participated in Holy Mass on the Feast of St Vartan and His Companions receiving Holy Communion.
This annual event is an opportunity for these students to collectively experience our traditional worship service, to help them understand how faith has been the stronghold for Armenians for all these centuries, and how the Battle of Avarayr demonstrates faith in action.
After the church service, the students enjoyed lunch organised by the Ladies Auxiliary followed by a presentation prepared by the schools tributing the heroism of St Vartan and His Companions.
