We Remember and Live On, this was the slogan on the bright yellow t-shirts donned by the 20 volunteers from the Church of Holy Resurrection who participated in the April 24 Outreach 2015, in the global 100 Souls project to commemorate the centenary of the Armenian Genocide by preparing, serving and donating lunch to more than 360 patrons of the Loaves and Fishes free restaurant in Ashfield.
This was an opportunity to reciprocate the generosity shown by Australia for its outreach to Armenian Genocide survivors from 1915-1923 and a symbolically, meaningful way of walking in the shoes of others in need.
Once known as “the starving Armenians”, our forefathers were helped by others throughout those grim days of survival and today we, as a resurrected people were in the privileged position of helping those less fortunate.
