Children’s Blessing Service
July 14, 2011
On Monday 11 July, a Children’s Blessing Service was held in the Church of Holy Resurrection presided by His Eminence Archbishop Aghan Baliozian, accompanied by the Reverend Fathers and deacons.
More than 50 children, newborn to aged 15 years along with parents and grandparents, particiapated in the service which started with the Archbishop explaining to the children why they were there and what was to take place.
During the service, the children took part in Confession and Absolution followed by the sacrament of Holy Communion. In his homily, the Archbishop explained the significance of the sacrament and what the wafer and wine symbolised.
Following the church service, the children with their families gathered on the church lawns for a picnic lunch, joined by the clergy.
